Justin Trudeau offers tips on political dynasties to Iran’s newly-chosen supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei

TEHRAN – Mojtaba Khamenei, the son of ’s recently-assassinated Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has been chosen as the country’s new supreme leader, leading to call from former Canadian legacy Prime Minister .

“It’s a lot of pressure, stepping into your father’s shoes,” Trudeau explained in a phone conversation with Khamenei, who assumes power amid the second week of U.S.--led bombing. “I recommend you focus on messaging strategy, and let Iranians know that ‘sunny ways’ are here again.”

The former Prime Minister of noted that, like Khamenei, he had also never held public office before winning a high-profile government position. “Before I knew it, I was Liberal leader. Dad’s name opens doors, and that can be really tough to deal with,” Trudeau lamented, agreeing to wait on hold while Khamenei ordered cruise missiles sent into the Strait of Hormuz.

“As for people who call you a ‘nepo ’, just try to ignore them, and maybe go snowboarding to feel better.”

Trudeau noted how Iran’s true hardline power brokers, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, “sound tough but are probably no match for the Liberal Party back room.” The ex-PM then offered to cut short his yachting cruise with pop star girlfriend Katy Perry, in order to travel to Iran and help Khamenei assuming his late father’s mantle, “especially if you could find one of those stylish robe/turban outfits for me to wear.”

Iranian officials declined to comment on the call between Trudeau and Supreme Leader Khamenei, due to their offices currently being on fire. They did however confirm that the two sons of privilege found common ground in working to ensure citizens of their respective countries would never be able to afford a house.
