TORONTO – Canada’s 1-1 World Cup tie with Bosnia-Herzegovina has officially reignited World War One, forcing Canadians to rejoin the Allied forces.
Canada’s inability to defeat the visiting Bosnia-Herzegovina team has forced the world’s nations to enter another protracted “Great War”, demanding justice for the assassination of heir to the throne of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, Franz Ferdinand, by the young Bosnian Serb assassin Gavilro Princip.
“It was a hard fought match, but this disappointing 1-1 tie means Canada must once again take their place in the Allied Forces, of Entente, and enter the European theatre of war,” explained Canadian minister of national defence David McGuinty. “This aggression by Bosnia-Herzegovina will not be tolerated, and Canada will re-join our allies including the French Republic, the Russian Empire, the Kingdom of Italy, and the Empire of Japan.”
At press time, all eyes are on Canada’s Thursday match, which will determine whether the Canadian armed forces join Britain to re-fight the Qatari–Abu Dhabi War of 1881.
