Man claims Canadian first amendment rights infringed when people refuse to listen to his opinion

REGINA – Aspiring social media political influencer Brandon Andreychuk is claiming censorship after his talk at the University of Regina was canceled by what he calls “out of control leftist students and faculty.”

“I had announcements on my YouTube, Twitch, Discord, TikTok, X, TruthSocial, Rumble, and Telegram accounts, and Facebook for my parents, and suddenly I have to tell everyone it’s not happening? Not the Canada I grew up in,” said the 22-year-old.

“Are we supposed to pretend the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms doesn’t protect our First Amendment right to be heard by the audience of our choosing?” he asked.

Andreychuk claims conservative voices in Canada are losing space to what he calls “radical leftist woke Trotskyist/Stalinist gender ideologues.”

“Canada has precious few news organizations that platform conservative voices. We have the National Post and its chain of papers, the Sun media chain, the Globe and Mail, Canada Proud, Rebel News, the Western Standard, all AM talk radio, and that’s it,” he said. “If I can’t be heard at the university, I’m basically silenced.”

When reached for comment, the University of Regina released the following statement:

“Throughout the year, the University invites several speakers from various backgrounds to present their work and ideas. These are done on behalf of a number of campus organizations who invite these speakers. This particular individual was not, as far as we are aware, invited by any campus organization and we have no knowledge of who this individual is. We are aware, however, of several attempts by an individual to book lectures on the topics of, among others, ‘Race Science Reconsidered,’ ‘Environmental Benefits of Pipelines,’ and ‘51st State? Great!’ We do not believe any of those topics are suitable for serious discussion at the University of Regina. It is also our duty as educators to point out that Canada does not have a first amendment related to freedom of expression. We would like to remind Mr. Andreychuk that there was a “first amendment” following the passage of the British North America Act related to the release of Rupert’s Land from the Hudson Bay Company to the federal government.”

Andreychuk took to his social media feeds to denounce the University of Regina.

“Once again, my friends, the heavy hand of this radical leftist federal government is trying to silence critical thought and dissent,” he wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter. His post was shared by Conservative Party leader Pierre Poilievre, who referred to the issue as “Carney’s Communist Crackdown on Campus.”

Andreychuk says he’s encouraged by Poilievre’s support which has inspired him to take a new strategy to get his voice heard. He now plans to organize a rally in support of his cause.

“I don’t want to give anything away,” he said. “But I’ll just say that I do know a whole lot of truckers who love freedom.”
