TORONTO – Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer has proposed giving individual taxpayers the option of choosing which government infrastructure, programs, and services to cut to pay for his proposed tax cut.
Scheer’s explained that the federal government will be able to afford a $14 billion tax cut while also balancing the budget by empowering citizens to cut the waste themselves.
“Don’t like your recently unemployed neighbour receiving EI?” asked Scheer to actors portraying real people in a living room setting. “You can take $444 out of that self-entitled laggard who’s just going to waste your hard-earned tax dollars by feeding his family. You just have to make a note of him on your T-4 at tax time.”
Scheer further illustrated the Conservative’s tax platform showing that a taxpaying couple could save up to a month’s worth of a veteran’s disability benefits.
“$200 back in the pockets of Canadians trying to retrain themselves through the Canada Training Credit will go a long way once they cut the Canada Training Credit,” read Scheer. “Why should you fund someone else’s education instead of your own?”
Canadians want money on their dinner table and more turkey in their pockets,” added Scheer misreading the teleprompter.
