Netflix reverses crackdown on geoblocking services after watching an episode of Mr. D

TORONTO – Canada announced they would stop going after IP blockers and other services that allow Canadians to access U.S. Netflix after their C.E.O. saw an episode of .

“For some time now we have made it a policy to prevent our Canadian customers from illegally accessing content licensed for other countries,” said an emotional Reed Hastings. “But after watching just a few minutes of… that, I knew we couldn’t keep this embargo in place.”

“Some things are more important than money,” added Hastings as he shook his head in an effort to forget what he had just seen.

Mr. D stars stand-up comedian as a sociopathic teacher who hates and aggressively bullies small children. For reasons that remain unclear it continues to be listed in Netflix’s ‘comedy’ section.

For their part, users seemed pleased with Netflix’s decision, although they wondered what took them so long.

“I finished everything else on Netflix months ago. Every day I log on and the only option I have is to watch a middle aged man hit on every 20 something woman around him. I mean, I have kids at home,” said Monica Gelson.

“I guess I could watch Being Erica, but I don’t want to hit that low point unless I absolutely have to.”

Others defended the CBC sitcom.

“Look, the show isn’t great, but it’s you know, fine,” said Marvin Honnecker. “I mean, there are scenes that Gerry Dee is not in, and those are fun.”

Mr. D is currently the most popular show on Netflix Germany.
