Report: Notley stepping down would to lead to 300% increase in Conservative government jobs

ALBERTA – Conservative critics of the Alberta NDP took Premier to task this afternoon, claiming that her actions have put dozens of Conservative Members of Provincial Parliament out of work.

“Ms. Notley has a personal responsibility to the Conservative MPPs of this province,” said Opposition Leader Brian Jean. “When will the provincial NDP stop ignoring the plight of the men and women they were ruthlessly elected over?”

Sources from inside the Progressive Conservative party of Alberta have reported that since May of 2015, many unelected MPPs have had to slowly readjust to lives of stable white-collar work.

“It’s disgraceful,” said interim PC leader Ric McIver. “Are you telling me that Rachel Notley can look [former MPP] Dave Quest’s family in the face, and tell them they’ll just have to get by with Dave working as a business administrator? She wouldn’t have the guts.”

Representatives from the Alberta oil industry, a long-time champion of down and out Tory MPPs, have also made their stance on the issue clear.

“Ms. Notley’s election has been a crippling blow to the workforce,” said one executive from Shell Canada, signing an agreement for another massive worker layoff. “When it comes to our friends in government, job protection is our number one concern.”

Tensions reached a boiling point at noon today, when ralliers gathered to protest in front of the Alberta Legislature Building. The careers of attendees ranged greatly, from former MPPs of Red Deer-North to former MPPs of Peace River.

“Notley has done nothing but flounder through this oil crisis,” said Jean. “She can stop this charade right now and make a real difference. Let’s get hard-working Conservatives back on the job, so we can flounder through this oil crisis.”
