Dad not too keen on sushi

OAKVILLE—Witnesses are reporting that despite being open to it if others feel strongly about it, Dad is not incredibly keen on going to the nearby restaurant favored by his family.

“It’s just not my cup of tea,” Harold Brooks, 59, the dad in question, explained. “I like the chicken teriyaki, but I always get it when we go there.” It further came to light that although dad didn’t mind getting the teriyaki, he really felt more like a steak, or maybe tacos.

“Sushi’s great if you like raw fish, but if I wanted to eat raw fish I’d just go over to your uncle Bill’s when he tries to barbecue salmon.” Dad was quick to add that uncle Bill was usually a great cook.

Family members noted that although theories about Dad’s mild dislike of sushi had been floated before, information had remained inconclusive until his revelation earlier today.

“I started getting suspicious when he ordered the same thing twice in a row” explained Kyle Brooks, Harold’s eldest son. “Especially since he doesn’t really like chicken. Then again, he went out of his way to comment on how good the presentation was here, so I figured that meant he liked the place. Sometimes it’s just really hard to know with that guy.”

Following Dad’s announcement, the family briefly discussed the various steak-like dishes served at the restaurant, including short ribs, however Dad pointed out that they wouldn’t be as good there as they would be at a restaurant that specialized in ribs.

Brooks’ wife Sarah, informally in tasked with ascertaining family member’s preferences, explained that the group would be making it up to Dad by letting him select the restaurant both this time and the next time they went out. Furthermore, for these two occasions, Dad will be able to select Mario’s if he wishes, even though Sarah is trying to avoid Italian food because of the carbs.

At press time, Dad just wants to go where everyone will have a nice time.
