MONTREAL – Attendees at the 2026 Liberal Party Convention have reported finding conspicuously-left pamphlets for a “Shock Away The Gay” conversion therapy camp, apparently distributed by newly-Liberal MP Marilyn Gladu.
Days after arch-conservative shocked all of Ottawa by crossing the floor, Liberal MPs and staffers say the pamphlets raise questions about her commitment to their party’s values.
“I mentioned attending a Chappell Roan concert last summer, and next thing I knew I had one of these pamphlets tucked into my messenger bag,” reports Liberal Party staffer Jack Swenson. “I didn’t even know she was in the room at the time.”
Despite public promises to vote with Mark Carney’s Liberals on hot button issues like conversion therapy, abortion, and not funding anti-vaccine convoys that paralyze a city, convention-goers say the pamphlets are concerning.
“We need to knbow where she stands on Liberal party values,” notes party policy strategist Fiona Gremble. “Gladu has made it clear she doesn’t support same sex marriage, but on the other hand she’s does support doing anything necessary to wield majority power, which is the core of the Liberal Party. So it’s confusing.”
At press time Gladu has promised to stop leaving out conversion therapy pamphlets, but has made no promises on the “God Watches You Masturbate” skywriting she reportedly ordered.
