Blue Jays to honour the moment Joe Carter chose a Rogers phone plan

– The Toronto have announced plans to honour franchise legend with a statue depicting the iconic moment when Carter locked in a 100 GB mobile plan for himself and up to three members.

“As all Blue Jays fans know, Carter scored a sweet three month Citytv+ trial when he chose ,” a Rogers representative said. “He hasn’t missed an episode of Hudson & Rex since.”

According to the representative, the statue will feature Joe signing his Rogers phone contract with one hand while shoving aside a conniving Telus salesman with the other. There will also be a plaque engraved with Tom Cheek’s famous play-by-play call, “Plus it up, Joe, you’ll never score a better deal in your life!”

“Carter hit 203 home runs during his seven-year tenure with the Blue Jays, some of which were important,” the representative said. “But the biggest was when he secured unlimited text and talk, and we’re going to make sure that future generations remember that.”

Jays fans are celebrating the announcement, with many having long believed that Carter’s contributions to Toronto’s telecommunications scene should be honoured.

“Younger fans may not fully understand the impact Carter had, but I’m old enough to remember when he came over from his American provider,” one fan said. “It really put Rogers on the international landscape.”

In a statement, Carter said, “It’s a tremendous honour to be immortalized in the khakis I wore whenever I went to the Dufferin Mall. Thank you, Toronto. I’ll never forget when we were introduced to Rogers’ 5G/5G+ together.”

The Carter statue will replace an existing statue of Ted Rogers, which will be moved to Rogers’ corporate headquarters, enlarged to 700% of its current size, and equipped with a speaker that blasts motivational quotes out of Ted’s mouth at all hours.
