Rogers commemorates Blue Jays World Series Run with new statue of Ted Rogers

Communications, proud owner of the only Major League team in , revealed plans to celebrate their 2025 run with a second statue of company founder Ted Rogers Jr. to be placed several feet from the current statue.

“It’s been 32 years since the Toronto’s went to the World Series, and so we’re giving this city what it deserves – another statue of the man who owns the company most of them use as a provider,” said Edward S. Rogers III, executive chair of Rogers communications adding that the Blue Jays and their fans are an important part of the Rogers portfolio of investments.

The statue, which will be identical to the one that has adorned the outside of the Rogers Centre stadium since 2014 will, “represent the towering achievements of the Rogers family that this city – and this country – proudly share in,” added Rogers III, noting that Rogers would not be offering any compensation whatsoever for outages during the World Series games.

The company said that several other statue candidates were considered, including Joe Carter’s game winning “Touch ‘em all, Joe” from the 1993 World Series, the José Bautista “bat flip” from 2015 and of course, the recent walk-off home run from George Springer that brought the Jays to the World Series this year. However, those ultimately were rejected as the company concluded, “The fans would get the most value from seeing Ted Rogers Jr. smiling down at them and reminding them, once again that The Best Is Yet To Come,” said Rogers.

“Dad would have wanted it this way,” he concluded tearfully.

At press time Rogers Communications was considering renaming the Blue Jays to the Toronto Rogers Xfinity Home Internet Bundles.
