Man outraged by closure of local business he never visited

CALGARY – A man was angered and saddened to hear that another local business he never once set foot in was closing its doors forever.

A disappointed Aaron Morales says that Martha’s Grocery store has been in his neighbourhood for decades and he once even considered visiting it in 2007, but decided to drive 7 km to a Costco instead because almond milk was cheaper.

“Martha’s was a landmark in my part of town,” said the 33-year-old insurance broker who often walked past the business, which once employed 25 people, without any acknowledgement. “It’s these foreign workers who are down the costs and making it tough for the little guys. Our should step in and do something about this.”

Morales claims that he has always been a supporter of independently and family-owned stores ever since he became aware of Martha’s closing last week.

“I always remind my friends to buy local every time we’re having a at a Boston Pizza or grabbing a coffee at Hortons.”
