Used mirror still has old owner’s reflection in it

DEER CREVICE, ON – Local woman Lauren Badami is considering returning a defective antique she purchased that still reflects the cold, grey likeness of a man she assumes was its previous owner.

“Initially I just thought it was a maintenance issue,” said Badami, as the old, eyeless man in the mirror imitated her actions. “You know, maybe it needed a good scrubbing with vinegar or a non-streak cleaner. I tried all that and he’s still in there but good. I would toss the damn thing, but I kind of need it now.”

Badami says she originally planned to keep the mirror in the basement until she figured out what to do with it. Unfortunately, she was forced to move the mirror into her bathroom after she woke up one morning to find that her usual mirror, along with every other mirror in the house, had shattered during the night.

“It’s very frustrating,” explained Badami. “Now I walk by the mirror a few times a day. Sometimes I’ll be like, ‘whoa, how’d I get covered in blood?’ before realizing that, nevermind, it’s just him who’s covered in blood. Also, he makes putting on makeup nearly impossible.”

Despite living with him for nearly a month, Badami still does not know the name of the man whose empty sockets stare back at her every morning. However, since his reflection continues to grow sharper and clearer everyday, she’s optimistic that she’ll figure it out eventually.

“Is it concerning? Well, it’s not not concerning,” said Badami. “But then again, maybe this is a normal thing I’ve never known about mirrors. I’d check online, but my electricity mysteriously goes on the fritz anytime I try to do research.”

While still annoyed by the man’s presence, Badami says that the situation has improved in the last few days and she may consider keeping the mirror.

“The last three days I’ve been waking up in the middle of the night after strange dreams that feel like they’re from the life of another,” explained Badami. “I’ll go to the bathroom and, finally, the mirror will be reflecting just me. Usually that’s about the time I’ll start hearing those disembodied footsteps and rasping breaths outside my bedroom door.”

At press time, the mirror was finally showing Badami’s reflection even though Badami herself has been missing for several days.
