Canadian man buying groceries across the border loses right to vote

– After a brief shopping excursion into , NY, a Canadian man has lost his right to vote in the next federal elections as a result of Canada’s new voting laws.

“There was a weekly special on ground beef and Snapple,” said Frank Hendershot of St. Catharines after spending three hours shopping at Tops Friendly Market on the other side of the border.

“I don’t want to renounce my vote. I just wanted to save a dollar on Oreos!”

“Mr. Hendershot should have known what he was forfeiting when he crossed the Peace Bridge,” said Employment Minister Pierre Poilievre while standing on the Canadian side of the Fort Erie-Buffalo border crossing. “Canada should not reward these unpatriotic acts of spending 180 minutes in some foreign country.”

Poilievre added that Hendershot’s actions had cost the Canadian government over $11.00 in sales taxes.
