Local man sitting by bucket of ice, just waiting to be challenged

ST. JOHN – Jason Travers, 29, has become so taken by the to raise awareness and funds for research, that he is currently sitting in his backyard with a large bucket and several bags of ice, waiting for one of his friends to challenge him to pour it over his head.

“For the better part of a week I’ve been watching the challenge go from athletes to celebrities to politicians, and now just to regular folks like me. I haven’t had my name called yet, but I know it’s coming, and when it does, I will be ready,” Travers said.

“My video is going to be totally unique. I don’t want to give it away, but it involves the bucket being placed on suspension ropes over my head and me wearing onesie pajamas,” he added.

Travers had hoped that his good friend Junior would call him out, after the “lucky son of a bitch” was challenged by his great aunt. Instead Junior chose to challenge local weatherman Dan Storm. Still, Travers was initially so confident that he made the mistake of pre-mixing in his ice with the water.

“As the ice melted into the water after a couple hours, it started to feel like a metaphor for my disappearing dreams.”

As the day went on, Travers became more and more impatient.

“Why won’t anyone dare me to pour freezing cold water over my body?” yelled an emotional Travers as the sun began to set and the last flickers of light ran off the bucket, leaving only an empty, black pool behind.
