Quebec commends public for lackluster Canada Day celebrations

MONTREAL – The Quebec government is thanking its citizens for the uninspiring celebrations that occurred throughout the province earlier this week.

“I want to take a moment to thank the Quebec public for their commitment to just barely celebrating this year’s Canada Day” announced Premier . “Your lack of effort did not go unnoticed. Leading up to this year’s celebration, firework sales were at an all-time low and Canadian flags at Dollaramas remain overstocked. I myself saw a young girl start to sing the National Anthem and then give up halfway through.

It brought a tear to my eye,” Couillard said choking back tears.

At press time, Couillard wanted to issue a special thank you to all Quebeckers who forwent the holiday entirely in favour of a classic July 1st Quebec tradition of helping someone move a dresser up a flight of stairs.
