Inclusivity win! Disney adds gay character to ‘Song of the South’ remake

Get ready fans. In a progressive move, Disney has promised its new Song of the South remake will also feature a gay character.

“We understand that times have changed, and we need to change with them,” said Disney publicist, John Smith. “That’s why we’re ensuring our new movie about plantation life in the Postbellum South does away with its most problematic issue– its heteronormative worldview.”

Wow. Can you say “revolutionary”?

According to reports, the new remake will recast “Johnny and Ginny” as “Johnny and Gino”: two poor boys who develop a crush on each other while being schooled by Uncle Remus, a happy black slave. has already been tapped to play Gino.

“We’ll still have everything everyone loves about this tale,” Smith continued. “Like the wholesome idyllic view of Reconstruction life and the good ol’ fashioned segregated friendships. But we’re also blazing a trail with what promises to be a groundbreaking gay climax.”

Rumours that Bre’er Rabbit, and Bre’er Fox might also be gay lovers were dismissed citing a need to stay true to source material that was twice-appropriated from former slaves and their descendents.
