Local woman betrays family history by eating at different chain restaurant

Moncton, NB – A local family says they are looking for answers after their mother openly chose to eat at a different rotisserie chicken chain. Trudy Daly, 45 and mother of three, is accused of betraying the family’s trust by engaging with a restaurant not appearing on the family’s list of trusted establishments.

“I don’t know what happened, but we have always been a Swiss Chalet family. And one day, Mum comes home from running errands to announce she had St. Hubert for lunch,” says Grant Daly, 22, of Moncton. “It’s like she’s a stranger to us. I don’t know where we go from here.”

“The Daly family chooses its establishments based on a set of mandatory criteria,” says Kelvin Daly, Trudy’s husband. “Is it good? Did my parents take me there? Is it near? Did I go to high school with the manager? Swiss Chalet meets that criteria. St. Hubert does not, so I fail to see why my wife feels the need to take this great leap into the unknown.”

Daly adds this isn’t the first time his wife has shown signs of dangerous free thinking.

“Last Christmas, she actually suggested we skip Elf and watch some other film like A Christmas Carol. No notice. Just casually dropped that one into our Christmas Eve like a bomb,” he says. “The signs were there.”“So I tried it and it was fine,” she says.

“What if it wasn’t fine?” Kelvin says. “What then, Trudy? God, what then? First, she comes home with the wrong brand of milk, now this?”

“A friend of mine warned me the Dalys could be a lot when I married into the family,” Trudy says. “I never imagined how particular they would be about the brand of toothpaste allowed into the house. The Dalys are … a lot. But I just wanted to try their damn creamy coleslaw before I die. Worth it.”

At press time, Kelvin Daly was moving their three children out of their home after Trudy refused to address the issue in family counselling.

Trudy Daly will remain at the house where she says she is likely to get St. Hubert again because, “The sauce is better. Don’t tell them I said that; nor that they don’t accept Scene+ points.”
