Edmonton man can’t scratch mosquito bites due to snow gloves

EDMONTON – Local man Taylor Webster has been having difficulty satisfactorily scratching the many bites he got last week at the lake, likely because the recent snowfall has required him to wear gloves or mittens at nearly all times.

“I’ll have an itch on my left shoulder from where that bug got me while I was tubing under the summer sun, and I’ll go to scratch, but all I will get is the feel of hard Gore-tex rubbing up and down my skin,” said Webster.

“Plus I have to get through three layers of sweaters and jackets just to get to the bite now,” he added.

Other Albertans have also suffered as a result of the sudden change in weather. Mary Sinclair of Calgary said her husband suffered grade 3 nipple burn when he jumped on the family Slip ‘N Slide and discovered the water on it had frozen over.

At press time the mosquitoes were still alive, and it appeared that the snow only made them stronger.
