Local white woman’s Chinese character tattoo reads ‘strength, cultural appropriation’

WELLAND, ON – A caucasian woman has impressed her friends and family with a new written in calligraphy that symbolizes her values of strength and appropriating a cultural symbol that she has no interest in understanding.

Starla Dunlop decided to get the tattoo after seeing how popular they were among her friends at a local yoga studio.

“This one girl had this really cool Chinese symbol for ‘perseverance’” said Dunlop referring to the dark skin pigmentation shaped in mandarin calligraphy on the back of her colleague’s neck. “I just wanted one that meant that I am a strong person. The Chinese are very good at being mystical and mysterious, so I know I would look really hot with something like that.”

The 26 year-old has received several questions about her new shoulder blade tattoo, but was offended when a man mistakenly thought the tattoo was in Japanese.

“It’s obviously Chinese” a disgusted Dunlop said shaking her head. “If I wanted a Japanese one, I’d just get a tattoo of a ninja.”
