After 40 years Steve Miller admits no one ever called him the Gangster of Love

Friday Harbour, Washington – At a press conference in front of his home legendary singer and blues guitarist Steve Miller admitted that, despite the claim in his famous song ‘The Joker’ no one ever actually called him the Gangster of Love.

“Its not true at all,” said a tearful Miller as he stood beside his wife Kim. “I’ve had this huge weight on me for so long, and its time to finally come clean. I’ve never been called a Gangster of Love by anyone, let alone several people, as the lyrics suggest.”

“I just hope my fans can forgive me,” he added.

Miller went on to clarify that he wanted the song to be truthful, but knew that more accurate lines like “Some people say I’m a pretty good kisser,” “Some people say I have an above average sexual stamina” or “One in three women I’ve been with claimed to have attained orgasm” would not have the impact he was looking for.

He advised that the rest of the song was completely factual. “I do grin a lot, I like the occasional joint at midnight, and I was called Maurice once, although admittedly that was more of a case of mistaken identity than anything else,” said Miller.

At press time, a defiant Bruce Springsteen was standing by his claim to be a blue collar worker from a small town who got his highschool girlfriend pregnant and whose brother died in Vietnam.
