Digital Thanksgiving: Shortcuts to muting the anti-mask rants of your relatives

Are you tired of hearing about your uncle’s ‘Plandemic’ opinions or how governments are infringing on your aunt’s right to infect other people at the grocery store? Fortunately, digital is the best way to ignore your family member’s odious and self-absorbed opinions. Here are some quick tips on muting:

Zoom

Tap on “Participants” in the navigation bar and find your blathering family member who thinks is just the flu. Tap their name and then on “Mute Audio” (iOS) or “Mute” (Android) to stop their mic from working. Sweet relief.

Google Hangouts

Select the People Tab and then choose the person you can’t believe you’re related to. The select mute button will silence their pseudo-science diatribes.

Skype

Right-click the Mute button next to their name (conversation view) or above their picture (if it’s your uncle, it’s probably him in sunglasses or a picture of a motorcycle) and click “Mute this person.” They’ll receive a notification that they’ve been muted, so be prepared to blame that on some kind of technological glitch or another relative.
