New Whatsapp update automatically inundates users with 43 voice messages from aunt

WATERLOO, ON – The free messaging application announced an update earlier this week that would automatically send users 43 messages from their aunt.

The new feature presents users who identify as aunts the option of pre-setting an unlimited number of messages that would appear in the app of their nieces and nephews either automatically or once they sign up.

Standard audio messages range from 3 seconds to 2 hours and 18 minutes and include several pre-typed prompt texts such as “Your uncle says hi,” “How’s your sister,” and “Are you in a relationship right now, please say yes.”

“We pride ourselves on anticipating our users’ needs,” said a Whatsapp spokesperson. “Most aunts who use our app have expressed a desire to connect with their nieces and nephews, and not just once a year at Christmas time.”

The update follows in the trend of Facebook’s new feature that automatically tags you in unlikely animal friendship videos on behalf of your mother, and Instagram’s new feature of automatically connecting you in a direct message with a creep you’ve been avoiding on numerous other apps.

At press time, a Whatsapp spokesperson confirmed that the app has plans to lessen the amount of voice messages that are just your aunt speculating if “this damn thing is recording.”
