BRANDON, MA – As his family prepared for this weekend’s thanksgiving festivities local man Stephen Island realized that he had left the pan they use to cook the turkey every year sitting in a pool of soapy water since last year’s gathering.
“Every year it’s my job to do the dishes,” said the father of three. “But the turkey pan always takes so long and I’m usually really tired, so I pour some Dawn and water on it, and let that just dissolve the grease and skin particles for a day or two.”
“I kept meaning to get to it, but you know between work and the kids and my fantasy hockey leagues, I’ve just been so busy,” he added
Island realized his error after his wife asked him to get the turkey pan out and he found the box empty. He then rushed to the sink where he found what was left of the pan.
“Most of the water I left it in was gone – I guess it evaporated. The detergent had also taken away the top layer of the tray’s metal coat. Even more unfortunately, there was still a lot of turkey on there, so I still had to wash it.”
Island was at a loss to explain how he had kept the pan in the sink, despite the fact the family had moved to a new house over the spring. His wife Catherine however was not surprised.
“I suspected something was wrong when he had to do all the other dishes in the bathroom sink for the whole year.”
At press time everyone was enjoying their meal, especially the zesty lemon taste of the turkey.
