Shy man so close to getting his comment in

Red Deer, Alberta – Notoriously shy student Gavin Desautels came incredibly close to getting an anecdote in about during a conversation at a friend’s house party.

Party goer Jarrett Fingerland saw the whole thing, “I don’t think I’ve ever talked to Gavin before, but I noticed as soon as Radiohead was mentioned, he perked right up and looked pretty intent on saying something.”

Fellow party goer Ashley Affleck also noticed Desautels trying to say something. “I was in the kitchen getting another beer, when I noticed Gavin, who I don’t think I’ve ever talked to before. He kept opening his mouth up, but everyone else seemed to be talking too fast for him and I think he actually raised his hand up at one point, like he was asking a question.”

This time Desautels’ moment came when the rest of the group said they hadn’t heard Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke’s solo album yet. “It was the perfect moment,” said Fingerland “there was a few seconds of silence. I even looked at him, cuz I could just tell he had an opinion on it. He opened up his mouth and I think I even heard the beginnings of a word, but it was too late.” The party’s host Ryan Durant had switched the topic to his rec hockey team, the Dump Dogs.

“His shoulders just dropped down.” Said Affleck. “Then I think he finished his drink then left. Poor little guy, we thought this would be his moment.”

When asked if the incident she witnessed would make her more inclined to go up and talk to him at the next party, Ashley Affleck declined, stating,

“At the school’s high school graduation party, he attempted to talk to a group of us grade 9 kids, after drinking like two tall cans of Old Milwaukee, but instead threw up on our picnic table. I don’t want to get puked on again.”
