Future Shop employees receive severance pay in Best Buy gift cards

TORONTO – 1,500 former employees of Canada will receive a generous severance package of gift certificates valued at $25 or more.

Best Buy, the parent company of Future Shop, stated that ‘severance cards’ will be delivered in the mail to all ex-workers so they could take advantage of all the great deals.

“With a $200 severance card, why not track how much time you’ve spent looking for another job with the Gear Live Smartwatch,” said Best Buy spokesperson Janice Armstrong. “Or how about a new printer? The All-in-One Wireless Inkjet Printer will help former Future Shop employees print and fax hundreds of resumés and cover letters.”

Best Buy explained that now couldn’t have been a better time to be suddenly laid-off by their parent company since former employees could take advantage of the nation-wide sale on computer monitors, noise-cancelling headphones and car GPS systems.

“And for those lonely depressing nights spent awake, the unemployed can appreciate the warm glow of a 70″ 4K Ultra HD 120Hz 3D LED Smart TV for only $4,999.99,” added Armstrong.

At press time, Canadians were thankful Best Buy and would continue to sell extended warranties they don’t need for all of their electronic purchases.
