Montrealers wonder when they can start ironically wearing toques again

MONTREAL – Temperatures in Montreal are fluctuating between chilly and cryogenically cold again leaving many to question when they can ironically wear a toque.

“This sucks” declared 24-year-old self-acclaimed artist Xavier Caetano. “My ears are in pain from the cold. I’m sending the wrong message to people that I’m wearing this because of the cold and not because I want to make a statement.”

Denizens of the local tattoo parlours share Caetano’s confusion over the beginning of un-ironic toque season.

“I saw a lawyer wearing a toque as he walked into yesterday and realized that I couldn’t wear my beanie anymore,” said Catherine McGee while having 12 pine trees that symbolize life’s eternal beauty tattooed on her forehead. “Unless it gets warmer soon, we won’t be able to wear our anti-establishment toques again until the spring.”

Environment Canada predicts that the temperature will be warm enough to wear toques ironically between the months of March and May.
