Gifts in WestJet’s viral Christmas video taken from Air Canada’s lost luggage

TORONTO — In a move contrary to the apparent benevolence, most of the presents in the WestJet’s Christmas Miracle video were taken from Air Canada’s lost luggage room, re-boxed, wrapped, and re-gifted.

According to security footage from inside Calgary International Airport, Air Canada’s lost and found luggage room was raided by masked Grinches, stealing electronics in peoples’ suitcases and even some Thomas the Tank Engine toys from children’s luggage.

“It is a sorry state of affairs,” said Air Canada’s vice-president of communications Jeremy Baxter. “What I don’t understand is why they didn’t just use their own lost luggage as they have mountains of it to choose from. Now how are we going to give out Christmas gifts to our staff? They took the best stuff!”

“Even with all that,” Baxter added, “I just feel sorry for the guy that thinks he is wearing new socks and underwear.”
