Memory foam mattress never lets local man forget

GREY COUNTY – Despite constantly trying to distract himself from what happened during that portentous night of November 17, 1996, Owen Sound resident Gabriel Tougas’ polyurethane mattress keeps reminding him.

“I tried not to think about it. I wanted to forget,” said Tougas with a trembling voice. “But that ghastly imprint on my mattress will just not fade. It haunts me day and night.”

The viscoelastic mattress, which molds to the shape of any object pressing against it, including bodies of the recently deceased, was purchased by Tougas in the hopes it would improve his sleep. But the terrible secret that the mattress now holds has only worsened his insomnia.

At press time, Tougas grew increasingly anxious and shrieked, “Villains! No more! I admit the deed! Tear up the foam! Here, here! It is the beating of his hideous heart!”
