Canada issues apology

NEW YORK – A Canadian representative issued an apology on behalf of Canada at a recent United Nations General Assembly meeting.

The representative stood up during a heated discussion concerning human rights in Mali, cleared his throat to gain the attention of the room, and offered a blanket apology without going into any specifics.

“We’re sorry,” he said. “Really very sorry. Really, really, really, really sorry.”

Asked later about Canada’s compulsive urge to apologize, a representative from Venezuela voiced disdain toward the nation’s ongoing displays of remorse.

“They’re always apologizing, every meeting, without fail, and no one knows why. What they really should apologize for is interrupting meetings every ten minutes. ‘Eight reallys’? Honestly. This is the United Nations. We’re trying to get stuff done.”
