Only father figure in local woman’s life about to ask her on date

– After struggling in a male-dominated field for several weeks, Jennifer Smythe has finally found an older man, Fred Copeland, who can provide guidance, experience, and is, unbeknownst to her, preparing to ask her on a romantic date.

“I’ve always really needed a and he’s been so kind to me while I’ve been trying to get my feet in this business,” said Smythe, as Copeland carefully applied several dabs of cologne in his bathroom. “It’s impossible to get ahead without a friend.”

It’s been 3 months since Smythe moved to Montreal and met Copeland, who is now psyching himself up to send Smythe a text. The transition has been tough but, luckily, Copeland was more than willing to provide the parental guidance and support that Smythe needs as he prepares to become her boyfriend.

“He’s not just helpful with stuff either. He really shows an interest in my life,” said Smythe, totally unaware that Copeland, 30 years her senior, had just made a reservation at the nicest Italian restaurant in town. “Just last week he asked about whether I’d met a boy yet, if I was looking for a relationship, and if I would consider an older man.”

“Such a sweetheart!”

At press time, Smythe had naively responded “sure, okay!” to Copeland’s text about needing to talk to her about something important.
