Jurors in Mike Duffy trial each receive mysterious $90,000 cheque

OTTAWA – Before the start of what will be the political trial of the year, the jurors deciding the fate of embattled Senator have inexplicably all received a cheque for $90,000.

“I woke up this morning to a knock on my door,” said one of the jurors, who cannot be named for legal reasons.

“There was this envelope with a cheque for $90,000 and note attached saying, ‘Morning! Hope we’re good to go,’ signed by N.W.”

“I have no idea who that could be.”

Another juror said she answered a phone call in the middle of the night. A strange, yet, by all accounts, honest and trustworthy voice told her to check her mailbox on the ground floor of her apartment building, where she too found a $90,000 cheque. When she asked the voice who gave her the money, the voice used an alias, saying, “, former Chief of Staff to the Prime Minister of Canada.”

At press time, the jurors in Mike Duffy’s trial have all spent their money on a down-payment for a second primary residence.
